Skin Lesion Removal

Plasma skin lesion removal is a non-surgical treatment that uses plasma energy to safely remove unwanted benign skin lesions. The plasma pen works by creating a small electrical arc that precisely targets the lesion without damaging the surrounding skin.

The plasma device vaporises the targeted tissue, allowing the lesion to dry out and form a small scab which naturally falls away during the healing process. This method is accurate and minimally invasive, making it a popular alternative to surgical excision.

The procedure is well tolerated. We use lidocaine numbing agents before the treatment to make the experience as comfortable as possible. You may feel a slight heat or tingling sensation, but most clients find the treatment manageable.

Plasma treatment is only suitable for benign skin lesions. We cannot remove any lesion that appears suspicious or potentially malignant. Signs that a lesion may not be suitable include recent or unexplained changes in size, shape, or colour, irregular or blurred edges, bleeding that is not caused by irritation, persistent itching, pain or tenderness, ulceration, or a lesion that does not heal as expected.

Any mole or lesion that is new, growing, changing, or causing concern should always be checked by your GP or a dermatologist before removal. During your consultation, our nurse will carefully assess the area, and if there is any doubt about its nature, we will refer you to your doctor for further investigation rather than proceed with treatment.

In most cases, plasma lesion removal heals very well without scarring. Once the scab has naturally fallen away, the new skin may appear slightly pink for a short period before blending with your normal skin tone. As with any procedure that breaks the skin, there is a small risk of scarring, but this is rare when proper aftercare is followed. Avoiding sun exposure, not picking at scabs, and applying the recommended antiseptic cream all help to ensure the best possible healing outcome.

Downtime after plasma lesion removal is usually very minimal. The treated area will form a small scab within the first day or two, which naturally falls away over the course of five to ten days. During this time the skin may look slightly red or darker than usual, and in some cases there may be mild swelling or sensitivity around the area. Most people feel comfortable returning to their normal daily activities straight away, although we recommend avoiding makeup on the area, heavy exercise, swimming, and direct sun exposure until it has fully healed. Once the scab has come away, the fresh new skin underneath may appear pink for a short while before blending in with your natural skin tone.
