Platelet-Rich Plasma — your own biology

Often called the vampire facial, PRP uses the growth factors in your own blood to repair and regenerate skin — no filler, no foreign substance, nothing your body has not made itself.

Strictly 18 and over. Anti-wrinkle and dermal filler treatments cannot lawfully be given to anyone under 18 for cosmetic purposes, and we apply the same rule to every treatment we offer. We operate a Challenge 25 policy and photographic ID may be requested.

What PRP actually is

A small sample of your blood is taken, exactly as it would be for a routine blood test, then spun in a centrifuge to separate out the platelet-rich plasma. That golden layer is dense with the growth factors your body already uses to heal itself — and it is reintroduced into the areas you want to improve.

Because PRP is made entirely from your own blood, there is no filler, no synthetic product and no risk of allergy to the material itself. It works by stimulating your skin to regenerate rather than by adding volume.

What it is used for

  • Under-eye rejuvenation — one of the most popular uses, for dark, hollow or crepey under-eyes
  • Overall skin quality — tone, texture, firmness and that genuinely healthy look
  • Fine lines and early ageing — particularly across the cheeks and around the mouth
  • Acne scarring — often combined with microneedling for stronger remodelling
  • Hair thinning — scalp PRP to support weakening follicles

A treatment that suits a nurse-led clinic

PRP involves drawing blood and handling it safely, which is precisely the kind of procedure that belongs with a qualified nurse. Hannah is an Independent Nurse Prescriber, so venepuncture, sterile handling and clinical governance are routine rather than an add-on skill.

Results build gradually over several weeks as collagen remodels, and a short course usually gives the most convincing outcome. You will be told honestly at consultation whether PRP is the right tool for your concern — sometimes polynucleotides or a skin booster is the better answer, and we will say so.

Good to know

Your questions, answered

Is PRP safe?

PRP uses your own blood, so there is no risk of allergy or rejection of the material itself. The clinical risks relate to the injection and the blood draw, which is why it should only be carried out by a suitably qualified medical professional using sterile technique — as it is here.

Does it hurt?

The blood draw feels like a standard blood test. A topical numbing cream is applied before treatment, so most clients find the injections very manageable. Some mild swelling or bruising afterwards is normal, particularly under the eyes.

How many sessions will I need?

A course of around three sessions, spaced roughly four to six weeks apart, is typical for skin and under-eye work, with maintenance thereafter. Hannah will give you a realistic plan for your concern at consultation.

When will I see results?

PRP does not work instantly — it works by prompting your own collagen to remodel. Most people notice improvement from around four weeks, with the fuller effect over two to three months.

How is PRP different from filler or polynucleotides?

Filler adds volume immediately. PRP and polynucleotides both regenerate rather than fill — PRP uses growth factors from your own blood, while polynucleotides use purified DNA fragments. Which is right depends on your skin, and we will talk it through honestly.

Is PRP suitable for everyone?

Not always. Certain blood conditions, some medications and pregnancy can make PRP unsuitable. Your consultation includes a full medical history for exactly this reason.
